Hello Renfrew community members!
As you may have heard, the Renfrew Community Association (RCA) has recently been awarded an ‘ActivateYYC’ grant to support “temporary local projects and events that motivate Calgarians to walk, play and be neighbourly”. The idea that the RCA proposed was a one-day event taking place in August, 2018 (exact date TBD) along Edmonton Trail NE. Historically there was a community event held that took place on Edmonton trail and it was called Edmonton Trail Day(s).
Our plan for reviving this includes the installation of a temporary parklet, a public seating platform, in the parking lane of the 700 block of northbound Edmonton Trail. The event will help foster community, increase pedestrian activity and provide a place for local residents to engage businesses and other organizations in the area.
The event has been spearheaded by 3 people so far but to make it a success, we need your help! We're looking for volunteers to help us in the planning and implementation phase to make this event a reality. We encourage you to read the volunteer position descriptions below and reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org if you're interested in getting on board or if you want more information.
